In 2005, I wrote the first code to solve a WordPress problem – how to AutoPost drafts so they appeared on the blog over time, automatically.
(In fact, I coined the word ‘AutoPost’ – short for ‘Automatic Posting’!)
WordPress has come a long way – and so has AutoPosting, with my new plugin:

Now, you take a bunch of draft articles already on your site, ‘shuffle’ them, then ‘publish’ them, and they appear as far into the future as you want.
But here’s the ‘secret sauce’ – you can set them to publish on a schedule that makes everything look natural!

Here’s how you could use it:
- You uncheck Saturday and Sunday, and your articles appear only on weekdays,
- Or set the time to 1700 and 2300 (5pm and 11pm), so all the articles ‘appear’ to be written when you come home from work!
- Set the day range to 2 and 4, and articles appear every 2 to 4 days on your blog (ideal to look like a busy blogger with other things to do!)

Super Bonus!
The article splitter is my own private (up until now) invention – it takes an article and inserts a special WordPress tag (called <!–nextpage–>) every few paragraphs.
This tag splits articles into pages – part 1, part 2, etc – and the result is that one article can spread across more than one page, giving you MORE for each article:
- More targeted content for search engines.
- More pages for ads
- More listings in Google!
Note: Not every WordPress theme can handle page splitting – but of course my free ABTheme has no problem with it – get it here.
Category Bonus!
You have 20 articles, and 10 categories to put them in – do you set them up manually?
You could – or you use the Category feature in the plugin and ‘spread’ the articles automatically among the categories!
Pick the number of categories per post, and let it go – it will spread the articles, and make sure they appear in a variety of categories – with the click of a button.

Beware of Imitators! (I’ve always wanted to say that)
AutoPosting today is tricky. It’s possible to screw up your articles if done wrong, and they WON’T publish right (or at all).
Old plugins won’t work, either – WordPress has changed the way articles publish, and this plugin is tested on the latest version.
