What Kind Of Business Can You Start With A Blog?
So here’s a few ways to make money from your site:
- Membership. For example, ActiveBlogging offers free articles (like this one) – but that’s to attract interest, where the real ‘meat’ (the ActiveBlogging report, Videos, and Plugins) are found. That paid membership on blogging for profit is my bread and butter, and my business model.
- Advertising. If your content is good and traffic is high then you can go the advertising route. Some sites boast about making thousands a month that way – but they are the exception.
- Leverage your site to personal fulfillment. While not money-making exactly, some have turned a popular blog into a book deal, or an online resume. What better way to get into a competitive market than by becoming an authority with your blog? And if you get traffic, then you can advertise for money – or to let them know you’re available.
- Gain repeat visitors. ‘The money is in the list’ is an old adage, and it’s true. If your blog provides some way to generate a list (perhaps a daily tips email or a weekly summary), then getting the emails of your visitors can be practical. Make sure you can offer related advertisements to them, and it can be quite profitable. As a very rough rule of thumb, it’s possible to make about $1 per address per month with emailing if it’s done right, and the list is good – more for a narrow niche market.
