The 4-Day Work Week, By Timothy Ferris
No, this is not a book review - in fact, I’ve just finished the introduction!
However, that’s far enough into the book that he’s already shared his philosophy:
Don’t skip a glass of wine a day to be rich in 50 years - enjoy the wine AND life now with less.
I’ll be reading the book further, but what I’ve read so far points out something few people discuss, and which I think is key to the book’s success.
The simple fact is, people are fixated on a dollar figure, when they should be fixated on is what they want out of life.
For instance, everyone can dream about what they would do if they had a million dollars. Travel, shop, invest, any number of things. But why not plan to do the things you enjoy now, and not wait on them until you’re reached that ‘big score’?
Blogs are a key to that. I know of few people who have made a million dollars outright with a blog. But there are many people that are able to travel, enjoy the good things in life, and do what they desire right now (and have the money to do it) - because they have a blog.
And the advantage is you can write in it anywhere - and you don’t have to write much (or take too long) each day.
So you can work the 9-to-5 and put money away for the future - or try to build a non-standard job, and end up having your future NOW - and money besides.
With a blog.
Think about it.
