Are You Blogging To SELL?
Face it, when you blog, you’re selling, even if you don’t think so…
A post might be to mention a product or service – direct selling.
A post might be to highlight your knowledge or abilities (or opinions) – selling YOU.
A post might be to discuss your product or service – still selling.
And so on.
Even if you’re writing to be entertaining, THAT’S selling – because if you grab people with your writing, they’ll come back, and the potential opens up for more – more exposure, more advertising clicks on your pages, more opportunities for that book deal or consultancy gig, or whatever.
I fear too many bloggers write, but lose focus on that need to sell. And with just a bit of effort, their posts can move ahead of the pack, and get more rewards, too.
So I was pleased to open my email last week and see Ken Evoy’s report on writing to sell is now free for the taking – ‘Make Your Words Sell!‘ can be downloaded and read at your leisure.
Of course, there’s a sell behind it (he is involved with Site Build It, managed websites for beginners), but that doesn’t change the fact that the report is free, interesting, useful – and an excellent guide to improving your writing.
Because even if you never plan to write an ad in your life, every word you do write is selling something – so why not do the best selling job possible?
