In the early days, spammers would post on their blogs frequently – sometimes every 15 minutes. And for awhile it may have worked – until it was abused too often and search engines realized they were being tweaked for better rankings.

A clue? Few people can post that often, day in and day out. As well, the content of the posts left something to be desired – a post every 15 minutes sounding like a commercial was nowhere near the spirit of blogging.

It’s true – if you’ve writing with WordPress, then you should know that there’s a trick you can use to add more pages, and get more search engines results – without writing more.

It’s actually simple to use – just add the following to your articles at key locations:

<!–nextpage–>

In WordPress, this splits the page, and creates a second (or third, or fourth) page.

I once had a roommate deliver a speech on something or other.

In fact, I don’t remember what the speech was, only the example. In it, someone was walking to a job interview in a white suit. He sees someone in the water, jumps in, and saves them. That’s why when he gets to the job interview late, he has a spot on his suit, and doesn’t get the job.

In the process of transferring some older blogs over to another site (preparation for an ActiveBlogging Report article), I was reminded of a little trick I learned about setup – but unfortunately AFTER I set these particular blogs up!

The trick is simple: as discussed in my post on mySQL, the WordPress setup involves four pieces of data – a DATABASE, a USER with PASSWORD, and a HOST (usually localhost).

But the wp-config.php file includes another entry – and this brings us to the topic of TABLES.
